Questions
Is the tax stamp really $0?
Yes. The $200 federal tax on suppressors ended January 1, 2026. The Form 4 is still required.
I live in Montana. Do I still file a Form 4?
Yes. Montana buyers still file a Form 4.
I live in another state. Can I buy one here?
Yes, if suppressors are legal where you live. We transfer it to a suppressor dealer in your state on a Form 3, and that dealer files your Form 4. Or order on Silencer Shop and choose a dealer near you.
Where are suppressors not legal?
California, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island and Washington, D.C.
Can my family use it?
If it’s in your name, only with you there. If it’s in a gun trust, anyone listed on the trust can use it on their own.
